The Music of the Americas!  PRESTO, MAMBO
Welcome to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra Musical Discoveries program.  The Grade 2/3 classes are going on Monday, January 16, 2017 to the Winnipeg Centennial concert hall.  We will experience the very exciting music of the Americas.  The story is of a boy named Max who goes onto the stage to 'help' the orchestra but finds himself on a whirlwind adventure to Latin America where, with the help of his new friend, Mambo the dog, learns the magic of the rhythms and dance.

Learn how to play the castanets!  Amazing!

Alma Llanera Pajarillo by Guiterrez
(Created by Venezuelan musicians.  It is a joropo, a musical style like the waltz.  The title refers to the Llaneros, the herders of Venezuela and Colombia.  This song is considered Venezula's unofficial second national anthem.  It is tradition to end any social gathering with singing this song.)
