Springing into Break!

What a week of fun.  We drummed, we laughed, we sang, we danced, we cried, we read, we played.  So many exciting things coming to you from the music room after spring break so I hope everyone gets some good rest and relaxation.

Ending off the week with a video brought to you by Room 4.

Spring Has Sprung on the Drum

The Grade 1 classes were working on their dynamic playing today.

This is a crescendo.  It starts quiet and gets louder.

Here is a short video of the poem we learned and drummed to.  Can you hear the crescendo?

Grade 4-5 Performance
A Pirate Christmas

K-3 Performance
Treasures of the Seven Seas

Finally!  Now that Term 2 has come to an end, it's time to celebrate our accomplishments and there have been so many!  The Grade 4/5 group worked so hard on our winter concert musical, A Pirate Christmas.  For 2 months we breathed, danced and pirated pirates and elves.  And the hard work of these students payed off.  So much talent!  A huge thank-you again to the Grade 4/5 teaching staff for your endless hours of working with these amazing kids.  Mrs. Danceaway Kaczmarz... wow and Ms. Drama Queen Long... amazing!  And Ms. Funnybone Beazley and Mr. Crazy Joker T, well, thank you for keeping us all in line and the endless things you do to make us laugh amidst the tears.  Thanks Mrs. Crafty Smith for helping with the huge job of costuming.  And then there is Mrs. Artistic Nagam for her stunning art work... and of course, Mr. Soundman Doty.

Singing is Cool

Here at Stevenson, we value the art of singing.  Singing creates joy, culture, teamwork, feelings, ideas, togetherness, listening and skills (to name a few).

Above you see our Grade 1's enjoying a singing game.  We have some very brave singers.  Everyone tried and we did great!

Grade 2/3 choir sharing our Festival pieces.  SUPER job!  Today was a gold medal kind of day!

Grade 4/5 singers.  Today was a gold medal kind of day for you as well.  Great work everyone!
Congratulations Andrei and Josh on your awesome playing.

App Smackdown

Great sharing of apps today in our assembly.  I love this app called "VidRhythm."  You can record sounds and video snips.  The app puts them all together in a song style of your choice: rap, hip hop, beatbox, dance, holiday, metal, funk, reggae, classical, jazz, pop, ragtime and ballad.  Check out the cool patterns, sounds and layers this app makes.  The only downside is that it costs $2.29.

Check out our video we made today in assembly.  Here is D-O-G-S!
