New Year 2020

This coming year 2020-2021 will be none like any we've experienced.  I am so thankful that I get to come to school everyday to work with amazing people and beautiful children.  As for September, I will be focusing on mental health and music mindfulness.  I am so looking forward to helping kids feel amazing.  Follow our journey on Instagram @musicroomsb

Stand in the Light

Our students have started listening today to our upcoming Music Monday 2017 song.  We will be performing it as a school on Monday, May 1st at our Music Monday assembly and our Celebration of the Arts evening on Wednesday, May 17.

This powerful song has a very important message to us.  Take a listen.  Grade 4/5 students are invited to come audition for the open verse 1, verse 2, and bridge solos on Monday, April 3 at lunch.

'Rapping' Up the Year

On Tuesday, Ryeon McClenton from Kansas City, Kansas came to Stevenson.  He is a rap/hip hop artist who loves singing inspirational music and doing workshops with kids.  His CD "A Language Called Love" is on itunes.  Check it out.  Thanks for coming to our school, Ryeon.  We were challenged to be the best we can be and use music to be a positive change.  Love - Joy - Peace - Commitment - Goodness - Self-Control!

Here's some video highlights of the afternoon.

Star Musicians!

The Grade 4 and 5 students have had a busy week of music, setting into routine of listening, sharing, playing, moving, singing and creating.  This week we started learning the Kind Hearted Hand song by Peter Seltzer (see song on side bar).  We took tableau pictures of symbols and actions that depict acts of kindness and working together.  A lyric video is to come as well more info on the Great Kindness Challenge in the future.

For the piano music and lyrics, check out the pdf: Kindness Toolkit

The whole school is learning this song as our theme this year and we'll be auditioning Grade 4/5 students for singing parts.
