Auditions... Already!?

It's that time of the year again for the Grade 3/4/5 students to begin auditioning for our Winter Concert.  This year we are going to have a Party in a Pear Tree!  Mark your calendars, Wednesday, December 11, afternoon and evening shows.

Introduction:
A Party in a Pear Tree is a musical that takes place in and beneath a pear tree during the Twelve Days of Christmas.  “Party” is both the name of the partridge bird character who is stuck up in a pear tree and the party that is happening underneath that tree as all of our favorite characters try to figure out how to get him down from there.  Very funny!

The Cast:
The cast is made up of all the characters from the famous song “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”

Auditions:
Auditions are complete.  Congratulations to all the Grade 3/4/5 students on a great job!  More than 85 kids auditioned.  See Party In A Pear Tree link above for information, songs and all parts.  Every student has been placed in a part, whether a character, solo or Chorus 1 or 2.

Show:
The Grade 3/4/5 classes look forward to presenting this show on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 2:15 and 7:00 pm.

Costumes:
Complete lists of costumes will be posted shortly.

Singing Sabres Choir

I am so excited to introduce you to 35 remarkable kids who are going to represent Stevenson this December at a very honoured event.  Stevenson has been asked to sing with the prestigious Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir.   These students were auditioned in June and we will now begin rehearsals on Thursday, Sept. 13, after school (3:40-5:00) in the music room.  Parents of choristers, please see the tab, CHOIR: Singing Sabres for updates and information.  Tickets have gone on sale and can purchased through this link to tickets or at the McNally Robinson Bookstore.

It is important that your child is at ALL rehearsals as we have a lot of music to learn and missing even one practice will put them behind and cause us to be less prepared.

For our first rehearsal, please bring - healthy snack - water bottle with your name labeled

If you haven't returned the purple form that was handed out in June with information, please print off here and return to Ms. Rempel ASAP.  CHOIR FORM

Winter Concert 2016

Ahhh.... aren't you forgetting something??

I just realized that I never blogged about our Winter Concert 2016 on December 1.  It was awesome! The Kindegartens sang 2 songs: "The Hat I Got for Christmas is Too Big" and "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer."  The Grade 1-3 classes did the play, "Melton, the Warm-Hearted Snowman."  They had many songs and dances to learn and did a great job at putting it all together last minute.  The Grade 4/5 classes performed "Elflandia."  It was a fun and fantastic show.  Congratulations to all our students on your hard work.

Congratulations

Congratulations to all our students for your fantastic auditions!  We auditioned 73 students from Grades 2-5.  We are doing 2 shows this year.  Grade 1-3 will perform "Melton The Warm-Hearted Snowman" and the Grade 4-5 students are preparing a hilarious show called "Elflandia."  The concert will take place on Thursday, December 1 with the Kindergarten and Grade 1-3 performance at 6:30 and the Grade 4-5 performance at 7:30.  More information will be sent home as we get closer to the dates.  Please mark them on your calendar!  Kindergartens will be doing their own separate songs.

Now comes the big task of memorizing and learning songs and dances.  Rehearsal schedules will be sent out as soon as we have them.  Thank-you in advance for your support in helping your child learn parts and prepare for these fantastic shows!
